Happy Thursday!

Memorial Day Weekend is here, and before we get into the concerts, festivals, food, and reasons to get out of the house, it feels right to pause for what this weekend actually means.

Memorial Day is a time to honor our fallen military service brothers and sisters who died while serving this country. The ones who did not make it home. The families who still carry that loss. The freedom we get to enjoy this weekend sits on top of real sacrifice.

So yes, get outside. Go hear music. Take the kids somewhere fun. Eat something good. Meet somebody new. But carry a little gratitude with you while you do it.

Let’s get to it.

Local Snapshots

🎶 Riverfront Nights Is Back

Summer nights on the river are officially back.

Riverfront Nights returns to Ross’s Landing with free live music, food vendors, drinks, lawn chairs, blankets, and that easy Chattanooga energy that makes downtown feel alive again.

The season kicks off with Purple Madness: A Tribute to Prince, so expect a full night of music under the stars. Concessions and drink sales start at 6 PM, and music runs from 7 PM to 10 PM.

Bring a chair, bring your people, and maybe get there early.

🏀 East Brainerd Could Be Getting a Major Indoor Sports Complex

A developer is proposing a new 50,000 square foot indoor sports facility on East Brainerd Road.

The plan includes pickleball, basketball and tennis courts, plus indoor baseball practice cages. The property would need to be rezoned from agricultural to commercial use before the project can move forward.

The developer says the goal is to create a family focused recreation space with year round training, camps, clinics, and potential partnerships with nearby schools.

The proposal goes before the planning commission on June 8.

🏈 Tennessee Is Getting Its First Super Bowl

Nashville will host Super Bowl LXIV in 2030, marking the first Super Bowl ever awarded to Tennessee.

The game will be played at the new Nissan Stadium, and state leaders are already framing it as a major tourism and economic development moment for Tennessee.

It may be Nashville’s spotlight, but this is one of those statewide wins that puts Tennessee in front of the whole world.

☀️ Weather Snapshot

Thursday    78° / 68°    🌧️      💧75%

Looks like Memorial Day Weekend is bringing a little bit of everything.

There’s rain in the forecast almost every day, but also enough warm weather in between to still make it feel like a proper kickoff to summer.

Basically: don’t cancel your plans, just don’t leave the house without keeping an umbrella or rain coat handy.

🏠 That Small Water Spot Might Already Be a Bigger Problem

You thought you were cleaning your house. Then you found something you wish you hadn’t.

The warped baseboard.
The musty smell.
The bubbling paint.
The dark spot near the ceiling.

And around Chattanooga, moisture has a bad habit of turning into mold fast.

Most people wait too long because they hope it’s nothing.

But catching water damage early can mean the difference between a simple fix and tearing out walls, flooring, or insulation later.

If something in your house feels off, trust that instinct.

Restoration 1 of Chattanooga specializes in water damage and mold inspections and can tell you exactly what you’re dealing with before it gets worse.

Where To Eat

Wayward Pastry Co: If you have not been to Wayward Pastry Co. yet, fix that this weekend. Everything tastes homemade in the best possible way, from the flaky pastries to the rich coffee and rotating baked goods that somehow always look too good to eat. We especially recommend the Strawberry Rhubarb Galette, which is absolutely to die for. It’s the kind of place where you grab one thing and immediately wish you ordered three more.

Kai Bistro: The Velvet Honey Shrimp is ridiculously good, sweet, crispy, and packed with flavor without being too heavy, and the Bánh Mì has quietly become one of our go to sandwiches in the city. Everything feels fresh, balanced, and way more polished than you expect the first time you walk in.
