Happy Thursday!
This weekend feels like Chattanooga showing off a little.
Baseball. Juneteenth celebrations. Lakeside concerts. Food trucks. Outdoor adventures.
Not bad for a random weekend in June.
Let's get to it!

Local Snapshots

Rendering for the new Federal Court
🏛️ First Look at Chattanooga's New Federal Courthouse
Chattanoogans are getting their first look at what could become one of downtown's most recognizable buildings. Newly released renderings show a 191,000-square-foot federal courthouse planned for Vine Street featuring a massive colonnade, seven courtrooms, nine judges' chambers, and offices for several federal agencies. Federal officials say the project is designed to improve security, accessibility, and efficiency while creating a civic landmark that will serve East Tennessee for generations. Construction timelines have not yet been announced, but the images offer a glimpse of what could become one of the city's most significant public projects in decades.
🐾 Paw Palooza Returns This Weekend
If your dog has a better social life than you do, Paw Palooza might be the perfect weekend outing. Chattanooga's largest pet festival returns with a fundraising walk, dog games, contests, vendors, food trucks, and plenty of opportunities for pets and their humans to spend the day outside together. Every dollar raised supports the animals at McKamey Animal Center, helping provide care, shelter, and second chances for local pets. Whether you're bringing your own dog or just looking for an excuse to be surrounded by happy animals for a few hours, Paw Palooza is one of the more wholesome events happening around town this weekend.
🔨 Chattanooga Students Just Got a New Path Into the Trades
Chattanooga-Hamilton County has been selected for a new $90 million Bloomberg Philanthropies initiative designed to help high school students move directly into skilled trade careers. The local partnership will receive $9 million and serve roughly 600 students each year through hands-on training, apprenticeships, and career pathways in fields like electrical work, plumbing, welding, HVAC, construction, and line work. With more than 1,100 skilled trades jobs projected to be needed locally, this could become one of the most important workforce investments Chattanooga has seen in years. The new initiative will begin creating direct pathways from high school into registered apprenticeships and family-sustaining careers.

Thursday and Friday are bringing the kind of heat that makes you wonder if summer skipped the introduction and showed up early.
A few storms are floating around the forecast, but there should be plenty of sunshine in between.
Just keep an eye on the sky and don't let a weather app talk you out of your plans.

TOGETHER WITH RESTORATION 1
🌧️ After This Week's Rain, What's Hiding Behind Your Walls?

Water has a way of finding places it doesn't belong.
Behind drywall.
Under flooring.
Inside crawl spaces.
And once moisture gets trapped, Chattanooga's summer humidity does the rest.
If this week's storms exposed a leak, stain, smell, or soft spot in your home, don't ignore it.
Restoration 1 of Chattanooga specializes in water damage cleanup, mold remediation, inspections, and emergency response.

Friday Wrap
Chattanooga Lookouts Conservation Night: The Lookouts, the Tennessee Aquarium, and Friday night fireworks sounds like a pretty solid way to spend an evening.
Randy Steele & High Cold Wind: Fast picking, great harmonies, and the kind of bluegrass that makes it impossible to sit still for long.
Paddle Smart: Intro to Paddle Sports: Chattanooga has some of the best paddling around. This class helps make sure your first trip doesn't involve immediately drifting into a tree.
Atmosphere Fridays: Kevin Bell: Miami inspired beats, late night energy, and a dance floor built for people who aren't ready to call it a night.
Food Truck Friday: Come hungry, grab something from a local food truck, and stick around for live music under the summer sky.

Saturday Insight
Toddler Treks: Let the kids burn off some energy while exploring the outdoors through hands-on activities, nature discovery, and a little bit of healthy chaos.
BLUE DOT Sale: If your bookshelf has room for "just one more book," this sale is dangerous. Hundreds of marked titles are just $3 each.
Southside Juneteenth Jubilee: Food, music, local vendors, and a celebration of freedom and community come together for one of the city's most meaningful cultural events.
Lakeside Live!: A Jimmy Buffett tribute band, food trucks, cornhole, and a sunset over the lake sounds like a pretty good Saturday evening.
Cars, Cigars, and Coffee: Classic cars, free coffee, pizza, cigars, and enough horsepower to keep gearheads entertained for hours.
Greggie And The Jets: If you've ever wanted to sing Elton John songs at the top of your lungs by the river, here's your chance.
Bella Lam at HiFi Clyde's: One of Chattanooga's fastest-rising country artists brings her high-energy live show and modern country sound to HiFi Clyde's.
Chattanooga Lookouts vs. Rocket City Trash Pandas: Sometimes all you need is a summer night, a ballgame, and a team called the Trash Pandas.

Where To Eat
Yummy Thai: This is one of those places that quietly builds a loyal following because people know they're going to get a great meal every time. The menu is packed with favorites, but we're especially partial to the Basil Fried Rice, Khao Soi, and roasted coconut water. Everything tastes fresh, the portions are generous, and the flavors are bold without feeling overdone. If you're looking to break out of your usual lunch or dinner rotation, this is a pretty easy place to start.
📍200 Manufacturers Rd Suite 101, Chattanooga, TN 37405

Jack Beer & Burger Joint Chattanooga: Sometimes you don't need a fancy dinner. You just need a really good burger. This place has built a cult following for a reason. The burgers are simple, cooked right, and packed with flavor, while the ever-changing beer selection gives you a reason to linger a little longer. We usually go for the classic Jack Brown burger and a side of fries, but honestly, it's hard to make a bad choice here. It's the kind of spot that reminds you why great burgers never go out of style.
