Happy Thursday!

This year's 4th of July means a little more. America turns 250, and we're proud to be Americans and to celebrate our democracy right here with our neighbors. The celebration actually kicks off tomorrow, when Pops on the River lights up Coolidge Park with live music, the Chattanooga Symphony and Opera, and fireworks at 9:45 p.m. Here's every fireworks show we could track down happening around here this year.

Let's get into it!

Local Snapshots

🎆 Where Else Can I Watch Fireworks This Year?

It's not the 4th of July without a proper fireworks show. Here's every show we found happening around the Chattanooga area this year, sorted by date.

July 2 — Tomorrow!

  • Pops on the River: Coolidge Park — 4–11 p.m., live music at 6 p.m. (Chattanooga Soul), Chattanooga Symphony & Opera at 7:20 p.m., fireworks at 9:45 p.m. Free shuttle from the Unum parking lot.

July 3

East Ridge and Red Bank don't have confirmed municipal shows this year — residents typically head to Chattanooga, Ringgold, Collegedale, or Dalton.

July 4

Chattanooga

  • United 250 Mayors' Finale Celebration: Chattanooga Riverfront / Ross's Landing, 201 Riverfront Pkwy — riverfront activities from 2 p.m., 500-drone show + 1,000-foot pyro waterfall off the Market Street Bridge, 10–11 p.m. Free.

Everywhere else

My Picks

  1. Chattanooga Riverfront (United 250 Finale) – the biggest and most unique show, drone show + pyro waterfall, at 10 p.m.

  2. Dalton Fairgrounds – traditional fireworks display at 9:45 p.m. with live music and vendors.

  3. Collegedale Freedom Festival – family-friendly and usually less crowded than downtown Chattanooga.

  4. Ringgold (July 3) – best nearby Friday-night option.

☀️ Weather Snapshot

Thursday     96° ⛅   low 74°

Friday     95° ⛈️   low 71°

Saturday     93° 🌦️   low 71°

Sunday     92° ⛈️   low 72°

There is also an Excessive Heat warning in effect for the area, so plan accordingly.

Highs stay in the mid-90s right through the holiday weekend, with scattered afternoon storms possible Friday through Sunday. Nothing that should wash out most evening shows, but it's worth keeping an eye on the radar before you head out — especially for outdoor events like Pops on the River and the riverfront finale. Stay hydrated and take breaks in the shade during the day.

TOGETHER WITH SWEET AND SAVORY CLASSROOM

🍝 Date Night, But Elevated

Date Night Sweets Shared by Two Love Birds

Dinner and a movie had a good run. It's over now.

The Sweet & Savory Classroom hands you and your partner an apron, a chef, and a full menu, then gets out of the way while you cook it together. No small talk over a menu you didn't help make. No watching a screen instead of each other. Just two people, a hot pan, and something worth bragging about by the time dessert hits the table.

Rotating themes keep it from ever feeling like a repeat, think Tuscan Nights, French flirtation, Southern comfort food done right. Show up not knowing how to fold a dumpling, leave knowing exactly how to fold a dumpling.

Book ahead, spots go fast, and code Explorer knocks $20 off.

Friday Wrap

  • Mason Dotson: Early Listening Party: Come hear the new album by Chattanooga artist Mason Dotson, “Jump In, The Water's Fine.”

  • Owl Odyssey at Reflection Riding: Learn about barn owls, the ghosts of nature, with Wildlife Curator Taylor and newest Animal Ambassador Winnie. Parents and other adults supervising children must still hold a paid ticket, and for Winnie's safety, dogs may not be present.

  • Friday Night Magic Commander! at Epikos: Pods and pairings start at 6:30 p.m. with $5 entry. The winning pod takes home a foil promo pack from the current set, with regular promo packs for everyone else.

Saturday Insight

  • Dunkaroo and Unicorn Nacho Pop-Up: The Reading Room hosts its July 4 Dunkaroo Dunk Tank Bonanza — one throw for $2, three for $5, five for $8, or press the button for $25. A special Independence Day nacho pop-up featuring The Unicorn joins in, with proceeds benefiting neighbor The Pop-up Project.

  • Military FREE July 4 at Rock City: Active and retired military get free admission on July 4, with 50% off for up to six family members (discounted tickets at the window only, not available online). Rock City's Red, White, & Wonder celebrates America 250 with quieter evening fireworks views from Lover's Leap, live string music, a Bald Eagle encounter at the Freedom Soars bird show, and a BBQ chicken meal at Café 7. Open 9 a.m. to midnight, with last ticketed entry at 11:15 p.m.

TOGETHER WITH RESTORATION 1 OF CHATTANOOGA

🏠 Your AC Is Working Overtime. So Is the Mold.

Chattanooga summers are a mold factory and nobody sent you the memo. Blasting the AC against 90-degree heat creates exactly the kind of damp, dark, condensation-heavy conditions mold dreams about, and it's setting up shop behind your walls right now while you're none the wiser.

That musty smell you've been blaming on the gym bag? Might not be the gym bag. Peeling paint, dark spots creeping across the ceiling, a basement that never quite dries out. Summer humidity doesn't wait for an invitation, and neither should you.

Restoration 1 of Chattanooga's local team knows exactly where summer mold hides and how to clear it out before it becomes a bigger, more expensive problem.

If something doesn't smell right, trust your gut. Call (423) 380-7584 or click below to schedule an inspection.

Sunday Reset

  • Free Family Night: Explore, innovate, create, and play at Creative Discovery Museum for free.

  • Red, White & Blueberries at Chattanooga Market: A star-spangled Sunday full of summer flavor, with blueberries taking center stage. Jump into a blueberry pie-eating contest at noon or 2 p.m., or watch vendors go head-to-head at 3 p.m. — sign up at the front desk. Local food, fresh finds, live music, and plenty of blueberry love. Market hours Sunday, July 5: 11 a.m.–4 p.m.

Where To Eat

Understory Tea House: Tucked around the corner from Main Street beside Adelle's Creperie, Understory is a tea house and herbal apothecary built for slowing down. Cushioned floor seating modeled on a traditional Japanese chashitsu, and gongfu-style service that walks a single pot of leaves through up to ten small steeps. Owner Taylor Traglia Stephenson blends that ritual with Appalachian folk herbalism, sourcing organic and wild-crafted tea and tisane through regional partners like Bird Fork Farm and Cedar Hill Homestead, with small bites from Southern Squeeze. A good stop if the holiday crowds have you needing a quiet reset.

Guild Market: A no-frills convenience store just off Highway 41 in Marion County, the kind of place locals lean on for the amazing burger, pizza, and other back house grubs whipped up by sweet ladies.
