The Chattanooga Police Department has launched a new Drone First Responder program that gives officers real time information during active incidents. Two prepositioned drones sit at Fire Department Stations 4 and 9, chosen based on where violent crime happens most often, and when a call comes in, an officer in the Real Time Intelligence Center can launch one straight to the scene, feeding live video to responding officers, drone operators, and incident commanders. CPD says the drones will not be used for routine patrols or general surveillance, and every flight is publicly reported through an online dashboard, including flight maps, duration, call types, and times. The drones are made by BRINC, an American company focused on public safety technology, and after training and test flights back in April, CPD says the program is now fully operational.

Oui Oui Boulangerie, the Parisian bakery and pâtisserie that opened in Southside back in February, is now just six months in and already a Retail Rescue partner with the Chattanooga Area Food Bank. Through the partnership, everything the bakery does not sell gets packed up and delivered to the Food Bank's partner agency, the Chatt Foundation. Owner Johann Tremor's wife and co owner Siliza Tremor says the bakery sees the need firsthand every day since they live right down the street, and front of house lead Valentina Astacio is the one who first reached out after noticing how much bread was going unsold at closing. A Chatt Foundation representative now visits Monday and Wednesday to collect the surplus. The shelter's Director of Operations, Holden Young, says the kitchen runs entirely on community donations like this and serves meals 365 days a year, with July's meal count climbing from 11,912 last year to 12,922 this year.

Auto themed restaurant Ford's Garage is bringing its first Tennessee location to Hamilton Place, taking over the former Abuelo's spot at 2102 Hamilton Place Boulevard. Expect burgers, comfort food, cocktails, and local craft beers inside a space built around a 1920s service station theme, complete with vintage Ford vehicles and memorabilia. The company, founded in Fort Myers, Florida in 2012, is targeting a fall 2026 opening and says it is proud to become part of the Chattanooga community, calling it the perfect spot to gather whether you are shopping at Hamilton Place or coming from the Aquarium, Ruby Falls, or Lookout Mountain.
